Frequently Asked Questions

Finley Chapel and Event Center has listed below some of the frequently asked questions we recieve from our clients.  If you have additional questions please contact us and we will be happy to help with additional information.

Question: When can I have my rehearsal?
Answer: The date and time of your rehearsal will be confirmed six weeks before your scheduled event.

Question: Do you allow sparklers or floating lanterns?
Answer: We do not allow sparklers or floating lanterns as they pose a fire hazard. We do not want to take any unnecessary risks for your special day.

Question: Are fresh flowers allowed during our event?
Answer: Yes, fresh flowers are allowed in both the chapel and the reception hall. Fresh flower petals are not allowed on the floor of the chapel as they can stain the floor and also the hem of dresses. Silk petals are a great alternative for floor use.

Questions: Do my vendors need insurance?
Answer: Accidents rarely happen but when they do, you don't want to be held responsible for someone else's actions. Your vendor's liability insurance coverage not only protects our facility, it's for your protection and that of your guests as well.

Question: Do you recommend event liability insurance?
Answer: Yes, event liability insurance is relatively inexpensive coverage that can give you peace of mind when planning your special day.

Question: Can a friend of mine serve as bartender?
Answer: If your friend is attending your event as a guest, they may not serve as the bartender. If your friend is not attending the event as a guest and is TABC-certified, you may contact them for your event. If your caterer does not provide a bartender, we recommend you work through a staffing agency.

Question: Can we hire our own security?
Answer: Finley Chapel is required to contract security directly to limit liability. We use off-duty, and uniformed police officers for security for those events where alcoholic beverages are served.

Question: Do we need to provide our own music for the ceremony?
Answer: You will need to provide recorded music, live musicians or a DJ for your event. The baby grand piano located in the chapel is available for your use.

Question: Can I cancel or reschedule my reservation?
Answer: Yes. Just send us a written notice expressing your desire to cancel and/or reschedule your reservation to a future date. The following rates apply for cancellation of reservation:

• 60 days or less - 100% of all money collected will be retained
• 61 days - 180 days - 100% of rental deposit will be retained
• 181 days - 270 days - 75% of rental deposit will be retained
• 271 days or more - 50% of rental deposit will be retained
